ABOUT THE ARTIST

The first piece of art I bought was a seascape.  It made me feel the breeze, the warmth of the sun and the freshness of the air.  That seascape still serves as my inspiration and pushes me to capture the fleeting mood of a moment on my canvas.  I am drawn to subjects that trigger an emotion, a sense of place or a memory.

My first mentor in art - as in so many things - was my mother Betty, a longtime member of The Lambeth Art Association who continued to paint into her 93rd year, and who introduced me to oil paints during my “first” career as a chartered professional accountant.  As she did, I know that among the great joys of art is the opportunity to never stop learning and exploring.

I work primarily in oil, both plein air and in a large and light-filled studio with artists Catherine Eichstedt and Ingrid Connidis on the edge of Old East Village.

I am a member of and exhibit regularly in shows for the Lambeth Art Association and Gallery Painting Group of London have been a participating artist in the London Artists’ Studio Tour for the past two years.
